The YuYu Stool, designed by Stefano Giovannoni for the Italian brand Magis around 2000, reflects the playful and approachable character typical of contemporary Italian design. Giovannoni is known for his ability to translate functional objects into soft, rounded forms with a clear and almost graphic simplicity.
The stool is constructed with a four-legged structure in molded plastic, where the design language is defined by flowing lines and rounded transitions. The form combines lightness with stability and is suitable for both residential and contract use. Through the use of industrially manufactured plastic, the object becomes durable, easy to maintain and visually clean.
Within Contemporary design, the YuYu Stool positions itself between a functional piece of furniture and an everyday design object. Its form is immediately recognizable yet restrained enough to integrate into a wide range of interior contexts. The design demonstrates how simplicity, material choice and industrial production can result in an accessible yet thoughtfully designed object.
