Contemporary design

c. 1990 – present

Design that evolves with its time.

Designs of today, with a focus on innovation, material exploration, and timeless relevance.

Contemporary design encompasses creations from the 1990s to today, where innovation, material exploration, and user comfort take center stage. This movement balances functionality and expression, with attention to sustainability and flexibility in modern living and working environments.

Designers such as Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison, and Jean-Marie Massaud have shaped contemporary design with furniture that appears understated yet is thoughtfully engineered and technically refined. Their work demonstrates that contemporary design does not need to follow trends but can instead feel timeless.

Seating as an invitation to connect

Lande is a Dutch brand focused on seating for work and meeting environments. The brand combines comfort with a soft and accessible design language.

Lande was founded in the Netherlands and has developed into a specialist in seating for office, hospitality, and public spaces. Its designs are based on interaction and dwell time, with comfort and informal communication at their core. The design language is soft and rounded, with attention to tactility and an inviting presence. Typologies such as lounge chairs, sofas, and modular seating systems are approached as elements that structure spaces without weighing them down. The brand collaborates with designers such as Studio APE and Hans Daalder, resulting in collections that seek a balance between use and visual calm. Materials such as textiles, foam, and wood are carefully applied, with attention to detail, durability, and long-term use.
