The design formed part of Jacobsen’s holistic approach, in which architecture, interior design and furniture were conceived as a single coherent environment.

The sculptural shell encloses the user and creates a sense of privacy within larger spaces. This form emerged from Jacobsen’s experiments with foam and curved structures, where comfort and visual continuity were key considerations.
