This dining chair by Rob & Dries Van Den Berghe, dating from the 1980s, reflects the experimental approach that characterized postmodern design of that period. In contrast to the strict modernism of earlier decades, the 1980s explored more expressive forms and pronounced constructions.

The wooden three-legged structure forms the supporting element of the design and gives the chair a clear architectural presence. The three-legged base creates a slightly asymmetrical silhouette and highlights the structural logic of the design.

Within the context of Postmodernism, this chair positions itself between a functional object and a spatial statement. The design demonstrates how material and form can together create a strong identity without relying on decorative excess.
